PTC Porcelain Tile Cutters

PTC Carbide tile drillingThe solution to non-slip and easy start-up: Diamond ground tip geometry actually bites into tiles, eliminating wander and slip at the start of drilling. Each pack contains the same sized pro masonry bit to complete the drilling of supporting substrates to enable fixing installation.

Frequently Asked Questions for PTC Carbide Drills

What speed should the drill bits be used at ?
The drill bits should be used at the optimum speed range of between 700 and 900 rpm. Drilling outside this speed range will reduce the number of holes achievable.

Do the drill bits need water cooling?
The drill bits need a constant flow of water at the tip through the entire drilling process. This is best achieved using an Armeg water feed kit (code:- PTCWFKIT).

How quickly should I be able to produce a hole through a porcelain tile?
A hole should be produced through a porcelain tile in seconds rather than minutes. Excessive drilling times are usually due to insufficient pressure being applied through the drilling process or incorrect speed setting on the power tool.

How much pressure should I apply whilst drilling?
Sufficient pressure should be applied to keep the drill bit progressing through the tile (signified by tile dust being visible in the cooling water). Insufficient pressure will result in premature wearing of the carbide tip.

How many holes can I expect to produce?
Typically in a grade 5 porcelain tile, 15-20 holes should be achievable. 50+ holes have been produced in lesser grades of porcelain. When the drill bits have been exhausted in porcelain they can still be used to drill softer tiles.

Why are there two drill bits in my plastic tube?
The drill bit with the red wax cover over the tip is the tile bit, the other is a professional quality masonry bit for producing the fixing hole behind the tile. Do NOT use the tile bit for drilling masonry!

What sizes are available in PTC carbide?
PTC carbide drill bits are available in 5mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, 8mm and 10mm.

What other materials can PTC carbide be used in?
PTC carbide drill bits can also be used in Marble, Granite, Travertine, Natural Slate, Quarry Tiles, Ceramic Tiles, Natural Stone, Limestone, Rosemary Roof Tiles etc.
